It is the same with ours (Norway) production: We stop? producing from a field when it is around half emptied, as the pressure needed to extract it becomes to high. What that overly optimistic guy wrote is that the oil is made all the time under our feets, and that it thus is an infinite resource. We can of course keep it going for some time with oil sands etc., but that is perverted...

@98770 Thats true but a bmw 3 series or a merc c? class of even the nice big e class. Isnt that expensive on secondhandmarkets. But in holland we are also loaded with cars like toyota hyundai kia..... Kia is making nice cars tough like the magentis :) But in holland we most prefer opel thats also german quality but for an low price. Seat is also a populair car in holland.

@marlb0r015 thats why Asian cars are more common in North America for a reason. there are many definitions for a "Small" car. a small car can? be anything from a micro car such as a smart car up to something such as a sedan like a corolla. there are European cars like the Mercedes Benz or BMW but they are not as common because they are considered luxury vehicles here. but the big 3 are making cars that are more efficient though. even the larger trucks a getting higher MPG.

@chico280 I dont mind that they did that. I only want the cumbustion engines to run more efficient. About 1litre of gas on 30kms or some near that direction (without a dozen of batterys) Then we dont have to worry anymore. And also it would be a good start to not make engines bigger then 6 cilinder 2500cc. Because it is complete nonsense to drive a v8 or more nowadays. (except for lorrys ofcourse) I dont need a v8 pick up to get my groceries. I can? do that in my benz aswell.

Not many people know that oil is unsustainable, but it will be to hard (read expensive) to receive the oil that is left. Its to expensive and not efficient. Cause noone is going to pump 5 barrels of oil when they need 6 barrels to actually pump up the 5 barrels. You will lose always.......

@98770 Iceland uses one quarter of what a american uses and there is about 2 people per/km. Europeans use more because its cheaper and europeans rather small cars we just dont care nor want large SUV's we would? rather a yaris or a golf! It all has to do with price and mentality.

In Europe, cities are much more condensed together. most cars in Europe are smaller but they don't have to drive much because their transportation is sufficient. Here, everywhere is far apart so we have to drive longer. it is just not sufficient. you know that the entire European? continent can fit in to North America. These are just some of the reasons that European consumption of oil is lower.
